 ICC Men's T20 World Cup starts today || Detailed Preview




The Second biggest ICC event i.e. THE ICC Men's T20 World Cup is going to start today. The 1st match is going to be played between Papua New Guinea and Oman at Al Amerat Cricket Ground, Oman while Bangladesh and Scotland will face each other at the same ground in the second match. The matches will start at 3pm and 7pm (PST) respectively.

Who is going to host the event this time? 

The BCCI are the hosts yet the matches will be played in the UAE and Oman. The choice to move the competition out of India was taken in June, remembering the Covid-19 circumstance in the nation and the chance of a third wave of covid-19 cases.

Teams participating in the tournament?

There are 16 teams participating in the tournament this time:

 1. Pakistan
 2. South Africa
 3. India
 4. Papua New Guinea
 5. West Indies
 6. New Zealand
 7. Bangladesh
 8. Scotland
 9. Oman
10. Afghanistan
11. Ireland
12. Namibia
13. England
14. Sri Lanka
15. Netherlands
16. Australia

How the matches are going to be played?



Each team, will play each and every team in its group once. After twelve matches being played at Al Amerat Cricket Ground, Sharjah Cricket Stadium and Sheikh Zayed Stadium, the top 2 teams from each group will advance to the following round, the Super 12s, where they will compete with the eight highest ranked T20I teams. In the Super 12s stage, the teams will again be separated into two groups. 

Once again, teams will play every one of the others in its group once. This round will contain 30 matches, to be played in Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The top 2 teams from evry group will head towards the semi-finals.

Is The DRS Going To Be Available? 


Interestingly, this men's T20 World Cup will have reviews. Each team will be permitted a limit of two unsuccessful reviews for every inning.


Pakistan Cricket team's Updates

As I told you in one of my last posts that Pakistan cricket team and crew reached Dubai on October 15th and tested themselves for covid-19 ( Coronavirus) and now as the reports have arrived, every crew member is tested negative for the virus which is why Pakistan Cricket Team is going to start practice for T20 world Cup from today. Pakistan Cricket Team will also play 2 warm up matches against West Indies and South Africa on 18th and 20th October respectively before the Pak-India clash on 24th of October.
