ICC announces new T20i rankings|| Good news for Babar and Rizwan || Bad news for Joe Root
ICC on Wednesday announced new T20i, ODI and Test rankings. Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam included in top 3 batsmen in T20is!!! Joe Root looses his No.1 position in tests.
According to the batsman rankings in T20is, Babar Azam ended up as the number 1 T20i batsman in 2021 having although he has joint 805 points with England's David Malan but ICC has ranked him as number 1.
These rankings will probably get updated in 2022 and Babar Azam ends up as number 1 T20i batsman with Mohammad Rizwan, who also belongs from Pakistan is at number 3 and has 798 points after which. he has left Aiden Markram behind who was at number 2 before.
Babar Azam, The Pakistani Skipper scored a brilliant 78 against West Indies in the final T20i at National Stadium, Karachi where he led his team to chase the biggest total ever which was of 208 runs. After that Innings, he has got enough points to secure the number 1 position.
On the other hand, the test rankings are not good enough for the English batsman and skipper 'Joe Root' who was in top form and position before and was looking to break the 15 year-old record of Mohammad Yousuf of scoring most runs in tests in a calendar year, But his not so good performance in the last 2 matches of Ashes and the supreme form of Australian batter 'Marnus Labuschagne' has led Joe Root to loose his number 1 position in tests.
On the other hand, Marnus Labuschagne who was the man of the match in the 2nd test of Ashes and played a brilliant 74 run innings in the 1st test has secured him the number 1 position in tests and Marnus will probably be looking to continue his ranking.
