Which team will Pakistan play against in the semi final of ICC Men's T20i World Cup?
Pakistan was the 1st team to fit the bill for the semi-finals in the ICC Men's T20i World Cup after they performed massively in the Super 12 Stage — beating India, New Zealand, Afghanistan, and Namibia.
Pakistan will come up against Scotland today at 7pm — who have left the competition — this Sunday in Sharjah. Notwithstanding, regardless of the Men In Green being the first ones to book their place in quite a while, it is as yet hazy whom are they going to face in the semi finals.
There are 2 groups in the Super 12 phase — Group 1 and 2. The teams getting the first two rankings from one group will play the team which positions second on the second group's points table.
England — even after getting defeated from South Africa in Sharjah — have still been the toppers of Group 1, while Australia ranked as the 2nd team of Group 1.
In Group 2, Pakistan are currently present at the top, while New Zealand are in runner up.
Presently, there are two situations which will decide whom Pakistan will come up against in the semi final:
Situation 1:
If Pakistan stays unbeaten and beat Scotland in their last match on Sunday, they will play their semi final against Australia in Dubai.
Situation 2:
Assuming New Zealand beat Afghanistan and Pakistan lose against Scotland, the Black Caps will top the points table and the Men In Green will rank second. In this becomes the concluding points table of group 1, Pakistan will play the semi final against England in Abu Dhabi.
Situation 3:
Whatever the results of the Pakistan's match against Scotland come out, if Afghanistan beats New Zealand and India beats Namibia exhaustively, Pakistan will be table clinchers and play against Australia.
Nonetheless, the semi-final will see India and England fighting to book their place in the final, if India fits the bill for the last fours.
